Imagine that moment when you are busy with your phone. Either you are toilet texting or you are not mindful of your surroundings and then your phone falls inside the water. It really hurts, and it hurts the more when you remember your phone  isn't water resistant.




Some of the phones we use are not water resistant, and our phones can fall inside the water mistakenly. Since it is not water resistant, the phone is prone to certain damages like corrosion of the phone's coils, circuit and other resistors.

A lot of people ask this question, some even have water resistant phone but don't know. One of the ways to know if your phone is water resistant, is to know your phone's IP rating.



This ratings shows that your phone can be submerged inside water only for a short period of time.


These rating shows IP followed by numbers. These numbers can determine how well your phone can survive in water for a short period of time.

  Remember I said your phone's shows IP followed by two numbers. These two numbers stands for two things.


#The first number stands for solid objects like dust, and

#The second number stands for moisture protection

Here are tips that will help you if your phones falls inside the water



Make sure you turn it off immediately, because electrical components doesn't go well with water. And don't press any keys.



You can now wipe it clean. And then at this stage most people put their phone inside a microwave, freezer or even under the sun.



This methods are dangerous, most especially putting it inside a microwave, it can easily start a fire. And then if you put it inside a freezer, initially yes it will freeze. But, what will now happen when the ice melts? you are back to square one.



Some even go ahead to shake the phone to remove water particles, but don't try it. You are damaging your phone the more. Shaking your phone could push water into deeper areas of your phone, and you wouldn't want that.



This is what you should do:


1. Fill a container with grains, you can pour grains like cassava flakes or rice.


2. Disassemble your phone accessories, that is your phone battery, memory card and SIM cards. { If your battery is not removable, let it be}


3.. Put the phone inside the container and allow it to stay for  4 hours. This method will help you to remove the water particles in your phone.



NOTE: You should know that these are just emergent tips Some studies and experiments have shown that using the rice treatment method doesn't work too great. They might be able to pull out some water, but it is not hundred percent efficient. That is why after doing this, you should rush to a trusted repair shop. The earlier the better.
