About Cloudflare
What if you could help build a better Internet? That is the mission driving Cloudflare, one of the world's largest networks, powering millions of websites and Internet properties used by individuals, growing businesses and Fortune 500 companies.
Cloudflare helps protect and accelerate Internet applications without requiring customers to install additional hardware, deploy traditional software or change their application code. Its global network intelligently routes traffic, improves performance and helps defend against spam and cyberattacks.
The company is looking for people who do more than follow instructions. It values curious builders who notice problems others have accepted, experiment with new ideas and use AI thoughtfully to solve real challenges. Iteration, shared learning and practical improvements are part of the culture.
When researching an employer, look beyond the company name. Understand its products, customers and mission. That knowledge can help you write a more convincing application and prepare stronger interview answers.
Meet the Specialist Solutions Engineering Team
Cloudflare's Specialist Solutions Engineering team works alongside sales teams and customers to solve complex challenges involving security, connectivity and performance.
Team members act as trusted technical advisers throughout the customer journey. They help uncover customer needs, design architectures, demonstrate solutions and validate whether a proposed approach will deliver the expected results.
The team brings technology and business priorities together. That means understanding not just whether a solution works, but whether it addresses the customer's real risks, operational needs and long-term goals.
Prepare one example of a time you translated a complicated technical issue into a clear business outcome. Explain the customer's challenge, your recommendation and the measurable result.
About the Role
As a Senior Solutions Engineer specializing in Cloudflare One, you will partner with account teams and enterprise customers to design, demonstrate and validate solutions across Zero Trust security, enterprise WAN and emerging AI technologies.
You will lead the technical direction of complex sales opportunities. Your job is to understand customer risks, operational requirements and business priorities, then turn those needs into architectures that decision-makers can trust.
Zero Trust is the primary focus. Enterprise WAN and AI are the next priorities. Candidates should bring meaningful customer-facing Zero Trust experience and practical enterprise networking knowledge. Email Security experience is welcome but is not essential.
You do not need to be an expert in every Cloudflare product. What matters is your ability to connect different technologies into a coherent customer strategy, communicate with confidence and continue learning as the market changes.
Show the impact of your work, not just the tools you used. Where possible, include evaluation success rates, deployment scale, risks reduced, time saved or improvements in customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will help customers move from a complex technical challenge to a validated solution. Your responsibilities include:
- Lead technical discovery: Understand customer requirements and design Cloudflare One architectures that address security, connectivity and business needs.
- Own technical evaluations: Guide demonstrations, proofs of value, success criteria, technical validation and the technical close of qualified opportunities.
- Advise on Zero Trust: Help customers develop strategies covering identity-aware access, secure web gateways, data protection, SaaS security, browser isolation, device posture and secure connectivity.
- Support WAN transformation: Design approaches that connect users, offices, data centers and cloud environments using Cloudflare WAN and complementary services.
- Address AI-era security: Explore employee AI adoption, Shadow AI, sensitive-data exposure, AI application access, Model Context Protocol (MCP) server controls and agentic AI governance.
- Use AI productively: Apply AI tools to research, customer preparation, technical analysis, content creation, demonstrations, automation and repeatable field activities.
- Support Email Security opportunities: Contribute when email protection aligns with customer requirements and strategy.
- Communicate differentiation: Explain Cloudflare's technical and business value compared with competing security, networking, email-security and adjacent AI-security products.
- Partner with Sales: Support account strategy, pipeline development and revenue goals while maintaining clear ownership of technical actions and customer outcomes.
- Improve team effectiveness: Create reusable architectures, demos, proof-of-value patterns, technical guidance and lightweight automation. Coach peers and partners.
- Inform product development: Share customer feedback, market trends and product gaps with Product and Engineering.
- Coordinate across teams: Work with Sales, Support, Product and Engineering to resolve technical issues and maintain customer trust.
- Ensure a smooth handoff: Own presales evaluation outcomes through technical close, then coordinate with Customer Success, Professional Services, Support or implementation teams.
Choose two or three responsibilities that match your strongest experience. Make those examples easy to find near the top of your CV instead of burying them in a long list of duties.
