Content Writer & Editor at micro1: Earn $22–$70/Hour Remotely
Are you good at writing, editing, proofreading and spotting when content simply does not sound right? micro1 is looking for Content Writers & Editors to contribute to a project focused on text quality and AI evaluation.
1. About the Content Writer & Editor Role
If you have a strong command of English and naturally notice when a sentence feels awkward, repetitive or unclear, this opportunity could be worth exploring.
micro1 is engaging Content Writers & Editors to contribute to a customer project focused on text quality and AI evaluation.
The role involves using your knowledge of writing and editing to assess content, provide feedback and help improve the quality of material used in AI-related projects.
One of the most interesting things about this opportunity is that previous AI experience is not required. Your domain knowledge and ability to recognise high-quality writing are what matter.
The listed compensation is $22 to $70 per hour, and the position is remote and offered on a contractor basis.
Do not assume that you need a technology background to work around AI. AI companies also need writers, editors, researchers, linguists, teachers and subject-matter experts who understand how humans communicate.

💬 JOIN JOBS COMMUNITY2. About micro1
micro1 describes itself as an AI data lab working on training frontier AI models and evaluating AI agents.
The company works with experts from different professional backgrounds to create high-quality training data, evaluations and feedback that can help AI systems learn, reason and perform better.
Its platform also identifies and vets talent through an AI recruiter, with the goal of connecting people with meaningful expert work.
For writers and editors, this creates an interesting bridge between a traditional communication career and the rapidly growing AI industry.
You are not being asked to build an AI model from scratch. Instead, your understanding of language, structure, tone and quality can become part of the process used to evaluate and improve AI systems.
Sometimes you do not need to completely change your career to enter a new industry. Look for ways to apply the skills you already have to emerging fields.

3. What You’ll Do
The day-to-day work is centred around reviewing, evaluating and improving written content. According to the role description, your responsibilities may include:
- Assessing the clarity, coherence and accuracy of written content.
- Conducting detailed writing evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
- Identifying and annotating AI-generated content.
- Detecting low-quality or artificial writing, sometimes referred to as “AI slop”.
- Reviewing documents for grammar, syntax, structure and tone.
- Maintaining a high level of English proficiency during editorial reviews.
- Collaborating remotely with project coordinators and other specialists.
- Providing actionable editorial insights.
- Contributing written analysis and recommendations that can improve AI training datasets.
- Completing assignments within established project timelines.
This means the role goes beyond simply correcting spelling mistakes. You may need to think critically about whether a piece of writing is understandable, natural, useful and appropriate for its intended audience.
That ability to make editorial decisions is particularly valuable when evaluating AI-generated text because technically correct writing can still feel unnatural, repetitive or unhelpful.
When describing editing experience on your CV, do more than write “edited content.” Mention the type of content you handled, the audiences you wrote for, deadlines you worked under, quality standards you maintained or improvements you made.

💬 JOIN JOBS COMMUNITY4. Who Should Apply?
This role may be a good match for people who already have experience working with written English and are comfortable judging the quality of someone else's writing.
The preferred qualifications listed by micro1 include:
- Proven experience in writing, editing or evaluating text-based documents.
- A bachelor's degree in English, Linguistics or a related field, or previous experience teaching English.
- Native-level proficiency in English.
- Exceptional attention to detail in written and verbal communication.
- The ability to identify nuances between human and AI-generated writing.
- Experience with content assessment, editorial reviews or quality assurance.
- Strong organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently in a remote environment.
If your background includes copyediting, proofreading, journalism, communications, English teaching, content writing, publishing or editorial quality assurance, there may be a natural connection between your existing experience and this role.
And remember: AI experience is not listed as a requirement. That makes the opportunity particularly interesting for experienced content professionals who are curious about moving into AI-related work.
Do not reject yourself before the employer does. If you meet the main requirements and can demonstrate relevant experience, consider applying even if you do not tick every preferred qualification.

Strong English is important for this role, but there is another skill that could make a major difference: editorial judgment.
A good editor does not only look for spelling mistakes. They ask whether the writing makes sense, whether the information is organised logically and whether the tone fits the intended audience.
You should also be able to notice when writing is unnecessarily repetitive, vague, overly generic or unnatural.
Those skills become especially useful when evaluating AI-generated content.
Try reviewing AI-generated answers in your spare time. Look for repetition, unsupported claims, awkward wording, missing context and weak structure. The more you practise explaining why writing is good or bad, the stronger your editorial judgment becomes.

Remote work continues to attract professionals who want greater flexibility, but finding legitimate opportunities that match your existing skills can be challenging.
That is why roles like this one are worth paying attention to. Instead of asking you to start from zero, the opportunity allows you to use an existing skill set—writing and editing—in an emerging area of technology.
You do not necessarily need to become a programmer to work around AI. There is a growing need for people who can evaluate language, check quality, provide human feedback and understand how real people communicate.
If you are building a career in content, communications or editorial work, AI-related projects could become another direction worth exploring.
Do not put all your hopes on one application. Keep your CV ready, apply consistently to roles that genuinely fit your background and continue improving one part of your job search at a time.

💬 JOIN JOBS COMMUNITY7. CV & Application Tips Before You Apply
Make your CV easy to scan
Recruiters and hiring teams may review many applications. Make it easy for them to see your relevant experience quickly.
Put relevant experience first
If you have worked in editing, copywriting, proofreading, journalism, communications, publishing or English teaching, make those experiences easy to find.
Use specific evidence
Instead of simply saying that you are “detail-oriented,” show it through your experience. Mention the type of documents you reviewed, the volume of content you handled, deadlines you managed or quality improvements you contributed to.
Proofread your CV
For an editing position, this matters even more. Check grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, dates and links before you submit.
Keep your LinkedIn profile updated
If you have a LinkedIn profile, make sure your headline and recent experience support the type of work you are applying for.
Do not exaggerate
A clear and honest CV is much better than a CV filled with impressive claims you cannot explain when asked about them.
Job hunting can be frustrating, especially when applications do not receive a response. Keep going. Improve your CV, learn from each application and keep looking for roles that match your strengths. One rejection is not a verdict on your career.
